Finishing up

I have an entire stack of quilts in various stages in my sewing room that need to be finished. The saddest stack, that has been sitting there the longest is the stack that just needs binding. I love the quilting process, every thing about it, but the binding. So I went upstairs this morning since the hubby is off today and could hang out with the dogs. I decided it's time to finish up that stack and get some quilts finished. I made and sewed binding on the biggest in the stack.

This quilt was a mystery quilt that I participated in at the Sew and Vac here in town. I can't remember exactly when we did this one, but I do know I want to make it again in different colors. To be honest, this one is just a bit..much...I don't know exactly what I was thinking when I selected these fabrics other than I wanted to get them used up, and that they sort of went together.

I will be using this on my bed this winter, because there is nothing better or warmer than a quilt in the winter.

Christmas Quilting On the Move

So, I've been working on making quilts for Christmas as you guys may remember. Well my sewing machine went down, and I didn't completely realize it, until I was way into the one quilt I was making. (I'm going to have to go through and take all of those blocks apart...that will make a great project while watching television)

Well, this is the first complete quilt top I've completed in a while. Its a horrible picture, I know, but I plan on getting a better picture later on. I'll either take it out and hang it on the clothes line, or get Frank to hold it up for me. This is a star wars quilt, for my youngest nephew. I saw that fabric, and I just knew!!!

This pattern came from my scrap therapy book. I love those books, but this is the first pattern I've actually managed to complete from out of it. I've started a few times, but never got very far. I guess I just wasn't overly motivated. This one has 180 little two inch squares.  I've been cutting them and stashing them for quite a while, so it was great to finally be able to use them!!! (and of course thanks to Mr. Ralph from the Sew in Vac here in town, my sewing machine is running better than ever!!!)

So, that being said, I plan on moving on to my next quilt. I'm going to use this same pattern for my niece Faith. I plan on making a larger quilt for my older nephew Jacob. I plan on making a quilt for my oldest nephew and his soon to be wife, but that's going to be a wedding gift. I'm going to make them a double wedding ring quilt, which I plan on starting on as soon as I get my next two quilts complete.

Hope you guys are having a great weekend so far!!!! Be safe, and enjoy this weather!!!

Monday musing

It would seem I have a habit of blogging about whatever it is I'm currently doing. I don't know if it's the way my mind works, or if I think you all just might find it slightly less than boring.

I'm still cutting out those quilt squares. I'm either going to have some really wild looking quilts, or something fantastic.

I've decided to start working on a special quilt for my oldest nephew. He's been engaged to this lovely young lady for quite sometime. They plan on waiting until they are both completely done with school before they say I do. Well, I've decided that I'm going to make them a non scrappy quilt. I'm going to make them a double wedding ring quilt. I'm going to do it using blues, and whites mostly. That will create some lovely scrap fabric as well. I almost can't wait to get started on that.

I have quilting group on FB that I started. It's slowly growing. We've decided to start doing a block of the month kind of deal, then we can make our very own sampler quilts....which reminds me, I need to work on finishing that one from the quilting class I took a couple of years ago.
Anyways, once I get things rolling, I'll post the links to the blocks so that you can follow along, or rather quilt along.

In other non sewing/crafting related news the celery continues to grow swiftly by the hour.
